Name: Redfish Lake Area
Redfish Lake is the most beautiful lake I have ever visited. I have been struggling to describe the color, setting, and grandeur of the lake and its surroundings, but words fail me. Instead, let's look at Redfish Lake. Redfish Lake camping opportunities includes 8 campgrounds which provide tent and RV camping at well over 100 campsites. Sunny Gulch Campground is on the Salmon River. There are two on Little Redfish Lake, Chinook Bay Campground and Mountain View Campground. There is another on the west side of the lake near the north end, Point Campground. Point Campground is next to the Redfish Lake Lodge. There is a campground on the hills above Northshore picnic area, Glacierview Campground. There is another near Redfish Lake Creek, Outlet Campground. Finally, there are two more along the east side of the lake, Mt. Heyburn Campground and Sockeye Campground. Click here for a map of the Redfish Lake Area. For your information, these campgrounds close down one day a week to irrigate. None of the campgrounds offer electrical hook-ups.
There is a central services area on the right side of the road between Little Redfish Lake and Redfish Lake. You really can't miss it. There is a RV dumping station, showers and laundry facilities. Showers are $2.00 and well worth it! There are coin operated washers and dryers in the laundry room. They offer trail rides at the Redfish Corrals. To learn more about the horse back riding through the Redfish Corrals, call 1(208)774-3311.
,br>North Shore is the Picnic / Day Use Area for Redfish Lake. There is a newer, vault style outhouse that is well maintained considering how busy North Shore is. There is a large parking area for the day use area, a beach all along the shoreline and three picnic areas: A, B and C. Check out the view of area C. I went to recreation.gov to see if the picnic areas could be reserved and found that for September they are not reservable. However, it appears they are reservable during the summer months.
Sandy Beach Boat Ramp is located on the east shore by Mt Heyburn Campground. It has the only boat ramp on Redfish Lake. Many boats are moored by the beach on the sandy shores. Redfish Lake Lodge offers mooring buoys, but there is a fee and these buoys must be reserved. The Day Use fee is $5.00 per day, $15.00 for a week pass, and for those of you that fall in love with Redfish Lake, there is a year pass for $35.00. There is a large parking lot near the entrance for your boat trailers, and another parking lot nearer to the lake for the day use crowd. Check out our pictures to get an idea of the beach, picnic area, and boat ramp. We even put in a picture of the boat parking lot. Terri and I visited Redfish Lake in the summer of 2009. The campgrounds and the lake were very busy. The Sandy Beach parking lot was full, as in no more room! If you are planning on going to Redfish Lake for your vacation, I recommend reserving your site ahead of time. Remember, no dogs are allow
